American Assassin had all you could hope for from a spy film. The acting was good, the fight scenes were realistic, great action through the whole movie and a decent story line. Dylan O'Brien and Micheal Keaton wouldn't be my A-team for a spy film, but they played their roles well.

Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) was nothing more than a Texas man who dreamt of becoming a cowboy, but in his thirties he found out that maybe his life needed something different, something where he could express his real talent, something that could help America in its fight against terrorism. So he joined the S.E.A.L.s in order to become a sniper. After marrying Taya (Sienna Miller), Kyle and the other members of the team are called for their first tour of Iraq. Kyle's struggle isn't with his missions, but about his relationship with the reality of the war and, once returned at home, how he manages to handle it with his urban life, his wife, and kids.
GoofsDuring the beginning of the movie, you see an M1A1 Abrams tank go by with with no side blast panels. This is wrong as the M1A1 models all have blast panels all along the side over the wheels in order to protect them from attack. And actually every model M1 has them since the birth of the model in 1979.
This is probably because the M1 Abrams depicted here is actually and older tank (probably M60 or M48 ) disguised as an Abrams, since there's a shot where the underside is visible and it is rounded instead of flat like an Abrams should. So this movie shows up a life of a kid who wanted no-fear and became a marine soldier and even more, a SNIPER! Bradley Cooper gives an extraordinary performance by showing Chris Kyle's life in the battlefield and with his family and how his thoughts & actions in the battlefield and his personal life get all mixed up and affect him in his personality. I very enjoyed the movie and it was quite interesting and as a person who loves actions and battlefield movies - it's certainly one of the best.
Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname 'Legend.' However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the spirit of the SEAL creed to 'leave no one behind.'
But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can't leave behind.
